MLH FIS ch. 2

After a delicious lunch consisting mostly of salads, the ponies and the hedgehog were on their way the to Library tree. When they got there, Twilight was surprised to see all the blinds in the windows were shut. "That's weird, I don't remember closing the blinds when I left." she remarked. Sonic was the first to enter the door. It was near pitch black inside. He found the light switch and clicked it on.

"SURPRIIIIIIISE!"

Sonic jumped back a good 2 feet into Twilight and Rarity, clenching his chest. The whole Library was full of ponies, including Pinkie Pie, and was covered in streamers, confetti, and other party decorations. Pinkie Pie bounced up to Sonic with a super wide grin.

"Hi, I'm Pinkie Pie." "I was already told." "I put this party together just for you! Did I surprise you? Did I? Did I?" Pinkie squeaked happily. Sonic thought this pony must eat a lot of sugar to be this hyper. "Uh yeah, you sure did." he replied. "What's this party for again?" "Duh, it's for you silly! I wasn't sure if I should have made it any different, so I just with the good old 'be quite in the dark'. Gets them every time! Wheeeee!" she said and bounced off to eat more cake. Sonic didn't know what to make of it.

Twilight called over to Sonic. "Hey Sonic, there's somepony I want you to meet." Sonic came over to her. Standing next to Twilight was a little green and purple dragon dancing around with a lampshade on his head. "Sonic, this is my #1 assistant, Spike." Twilight looked down to the dancing dragon and got little annoyed. Her horn glowed and the lampshade came off his head. "Spike could you stop for a second? There's somepony I want to introduce to you. Well, he's not actually a pony." she said.

Spike turned to face the hedgehog. "Oh, you're the new guy huh? What kind of animal are you?" he asked. "I'm a hedgehog little guy." Sonic answered. "Also come to think of it, you're not the first purple dragon I've come across." he said. Spike was confused. "What do you mean by that?" he asked. Sonic laughed and scratched his head. "Oh man, I could write a whole book on that." he joked. "You should do that. Twilight just loves books. You should see her late at night when she falls asleep in a pile of them!" Spike giggled. Twilight blushed a bit. "Spike!" she said.

Sonic walked to where Applejack was. Next to her was a little filly with a hair bow in her mane. There was also a big red draft horse wearing a work collar with a piece of straw in his mouth. Applejack noticed Sonic. "Oh hey there! You haven't meet my brother or sister yet, have ya?" " Can't say I have." Sonic replied. The red draft horse came up and extended a woof. "Howdy there. Name's Big Macintosh. How's life been treatin' ya?" he drawled. Sonic shook his hoof. "Pretty good I guess. Same for you?" "Eeyup." Big Mac drawled on.

Sonic looked to the filly. "How about you?" he asked. The little filly looked up and smiled. "My name's Applebloom. It's pretty nice to meet you." she said with glimmering eyes. "Same here." Sonic replied. Applebloom got an idea. "Hey, do you have any ideas for what I could do for a cutie mark?" Sonic got confused. "A what?" Applebloom happily answered him. "A cutie mark. It's a special mark that all ponies get when they find out what they're best at. Me and my friends Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo made our own group, the Cutie Mark Crusaders, to find our special talents and get our cutie marks." Sonic wondered for a moment and answered. "I'm not sure what to tell you, but I think just go with what you think feels right. Does that make sense?" he asked. Applebloom scratched her chin and smiled. "Ok, I'll go tell them what you said." And with that, she dashed off.

After the party ended and most of the ponies have left, Spike came up to Twilight and asked "Hey Twilight. You think we should tell the Princess about this guy? He could be the one." "Maybe so Spike. Go write a letter to her about him." she answered. "On it!" he said, and got a piece of parchment and quill and quickly wrote out a message about Sonic. He sealed up the scroll,  went to the window. He breathed green fire on it and it turn to misty ash that flew through the air into the sky.

Sonic saw this. "What was that?" he asked. "We just sent a letter to Princess Celestia." Twilight answered. "She's the ruler of Equestria and the one responsible for rising and lowing the sun everyday." "Dang! She must be powerful." Sonic exclaimed. "You said it." commented Spike. Suddenly, the little dragon belched out a big green flame which materialized itself as a scroll. "Whoa, excuse you! Better out then in, huh? Hahaha!" Sonic chuckled.

Twilight used her magic to unseal the scroll and hold open in front of her. She read what it said out loud.

"My faithful student Twilight Sparkle,

I am happy to know that you made a special friend. From what you described, this hedgehog could be the one to help us. I have sent a Pegasus carriage for you that should be there in 1 hour. I will explain everything when you get here. You can bring you other friends as well. You know what they say, the more the merrier.

Your teacher, Princess Celestia."

Twilight put the scroll down and looked to the others. Rarity spoke up. "Does this mean what I think it does?" she asked. Twilight nodded. "Yes it does. Get ready everypony. We're going to Canterlot."
