MLH FIS ch. 7

It was very deep evening and the sun was just about to set under the mountains. All of the citizens of Ponyville were getting ready for the great battle that was sure to come. The main group was situated at the edge of the village. Twilight decided she had questions that had to be answered. She trotted to Sonic with determination in her eyes. Sonic turned to turned to her. "What is it Twilight?" he asked. "I just need to ask you something." "Sure thing. Fire away." "What were those metal monsters, and what exactly did you mean by "He's here too."?" she asked.

Sonic wondered for a moment to see what would the easiest way to explain so that Twilight and the other would understand. But he decided against it and just be straightforward. "Ok well, those things were robots designed and created by an insane scientist named Dr. Eggman." Twilight was intrigued by Sonic's story so far. "The only thing he ever wants is to take over the world, and he will stop at nothing to make sure that happens. It's up to me and my friends to stop his fiendish plots whenever they come up." Sonic also caught the attentions of Rainbow Dash and Pinkie. "Wow, he sure doesn't sound cool." said Rainbow Dash. "No kidding, that sounds like the meanest meaniepants ever." interjected Pinkie.

Suddenly, a light grey pegasus by the name of Ditzy Doo, but who's walled eyes and klutzy nature earned her the nickname of "Derpy", came flying quickly toward the village. "It's the Nightmare army!" she yelled. "They're coming this way! No wait, That way, yeah!" she said while point to north but then set on the east. Mayor Mare trotted up. "Alright everypony, this is what we've all been waiting for."

All of Ponyville went to the east side of the village. They were scared, but determined. And they saw it. An army made of nightmare imps and Eggman's robots. A laugh was heard from above and there was Dr. Eggman himself in his hovercraft. He snickered delightfully, but had a major mood swing when he noticed Sonic.

"SONIC?!! What are you doing here?!" Eggman yelled. The blue hedgehog just shrugged. "I was wondering the same thing about you when I saw your toys trashing the place." Pinkie wandered up. "Ooooh, he really IS an eggman." "That's Dr. Eggman to you. All of you." the mad scientist remarked, readjusting his sunglasses. "And soon to be your new ruler. Hehehe." Tails walked up and pointed his finger in objection. "That isn't going to happen Eggman. All of these ponies are innocent. Leave them alone!" Eggman hunched over. "And just what are you going to do about it?" he sneered. "Opening a can of "kick butt" on you's a pretty good place to start." Sonic exclaimed. "Bah, that's enough talking. Army, ATTACK!!"

The imps and robots charged toward the ponies. "Hold your ground everypony." ordered Mayor Mare. "And… GO!" All of Ponyville galloped at full speed. Both sides clashed with tremendous force. Yells were heard from everywhere. Sonic ran along side the battle. "Here, I'll make things a little easier for you all!" And he ran through the crowd at high speed multiple times over. Rainbow Dash noticed this and called out "Hey Sonic, let me help you with that!"  and zipped through the hoard with Sonic. Two streaks, one rainbow and the other solid blue, whirled across the battle, bashing away everything in their wake.

Amy and Applejack were both busy bucking and smashing enemies themselves. Applejack bucked off a imp and turned to see robot charging toward the female hedgehog. "Behind you!" she called. Amy twirled around and bashed the robot in the side with her Piko Piko hammer, causing it to explode. "Thanks for the heads-up." she thanked.

Fluttershy was outside the battleground, terrified and trying to find somewhere to hide. That is until she saw a little raccoon. A lone robot noticed it and started to shoot at it. The raccoon ran around scared half to death. This horrified Fluttershy. "No! Stop that right now!" she pleaded, tears welling in her eyes. The robot hit the raccoon's leg. It stopped and squeaked in pain. "I said stop! You're hurting him!" Fluttershy screamed. The robot approached the helpless animal and gave it a hard kick, killing it. Fluttershy was pushed over the edge. The site of an innocent little animal being murdered like that was far too much for her. She started shaking, tears streaming down her face. "How dare you!" she snarled. She lost it and galloped at the robot with a great battle cry. She turned and gave it a powerful buck through the chest and then to the head, decapitating it. It toppled over and blew up. "Woohoo! Way to go Fluttershy!" Rainbow Dash cheered from overhead. But the yellow pegasus did not care about that. She wept at the death of the fallen creature.

By now it was nighttime and the full moon shown brightly over the land. The ponies had gained the upper hand. Some had been injured, but they were able to defeat most of the army. Sonic looked up to Eggman. "You do know we can save a lot of time if you just quit now right?" Eggman stroked his mustache. "Aww, but where's the fun in that? I still have yet to show you my newest pet. Why don't I bring him out?" He pulled a remote control out of his pocket and pressed a button, making it beep.

The whole ground started to rumble. Bad time to be having an earthquake. It was no earthquake. Everyone turned there attention to the Everfree forest. An enormous monster started to rise from the trees. About halfway up, its details could seen. It looked like some kind of bear. Its skin was purple and quarter transparent, covered with what looked like stars. It turned toward Ponyville. It had big fangs and a mark of the north star on its forehead, and it looked angry. The great beast tilted it's head to the sky and let loose a deafening roar.

All of the ponies started to panic in a way Sonic, Tails, and Amy have not seen, like they were all going to die. "What is that thing?" Sonic asked Twilight. "It's… It's the Ursa Major." she stammered. "That's not the Minor. It's the actual Major!"

"Look, it has something on its neck." Tails pointed out. "It must be some kind of control collar." Indeed, a giant metal collar was on the Ursa Major's neck, held close by two prongs. Occasional surges of electricity could be seen coming off of it. "You're right fox boy." Eggman snickered. "I can make it do whatever I want, including destroying this village. Observe." He pushed another button on his controller.

A big electric surge went through the collar. The Ursa Major roared in pain and slammed the ground with its paws, causing major tremors. Then it swiped a huge number of trees out of its way. Everypony was screaming at this point.

Sonic however, was not phased by this. He approached the monster in the brand new clearing it made. The Ursa lowered down to the hedgehog. Sonic put his hands to his hips. "Wow. You're pretty big." he said nonchalantly. The monster grew angry and growled. Sonic smiled. "But I have fought bigger." The Ursa Major rised to the sky and roared again and slammed back down. "Ok big guy, let's dance!" Sonic said jumping back and forth with his fists up. Twilight and the others could not believe this. "That it. He's crazy." she said blandly with an eye twitch.

Eggman pressed his remote and the giant Ursa brought its paw down on Sonic. But he quickly sidestepped the beast before it could crush him. Everypony watched in awe. The Ursa tried to smash him again, but missed. This kept going for a while, and Eggman was getting frustrated. "Hold still, dang you!" he growled as he rapidly kept pressing his remote.

"Sonic! You're going to make all the buildings cave in if you keep this!" Twilight shouted. Sonic paused and blushed. "Uh… hehe, sorry." He douged another blow from the Ursa. He ran to Rainbow Dash. "Hey RD, can you get me up to that collar?" Rainbow Dash saluted him. "Sure thing Sonic. I'll get you up there!" Sonic jumped onto Rainbow Dash's back and they soared upward. The duo dodged 2 swipes from the Ursa. About ¾ of the way up, the Ursa swiped at them again, and it was going to make it's mark. "RD, look out!" Sonic exclaimed. He jumped off and out of the way. Rainbow Dash was not so lucky. She got hit by the edge of the monster's paw and was sent spiraling down to the ground. The rainbowed pegasus crashed to the ground.

"You're gonna pay for that!" Sonic yelled. He charged an airborne homing attack and rammed himself through one of the prongs. The Ursa roared again. It grabbed him between it's fingers. Sonic struggled to keep the monster from crushing him. Eggman gave a heartful laugh. "Farewell Sonic!" He pushed his controller again and the Ursa Rose up to its hind legs. It wound it's arm back and threw Sonic as hard as it could. The blue hedgehog sailed across the sky, wailing as he flew.

About three miles away, Sonic was coming in for a crash landing, the ground zooming toward him. "Yep, this gonna hurt." and he crashed and tumbled for about six meters. He groaned and stumbled to get up. "I have to get back there, and maybe I'll give everyone a little something special." He smiled and started to run with great acceleration.

The other main five ran to Rainbow Dash to see if she was alright. Pinkie got to her first. "Oh Dashie, are you ok?" she asked worryingly. Rainbow Dash got up, covered in dirt. "I… I'm not sure." The pegasus tried to move her wings. "GAAAHH!!" she screamed in pain. "Oh my." said Fluttershy. Rainbow Dash turned her head. Her wings were swollen and twisted. It almost made her sick. "My… my wings are broken." she croaked. "It's ok, just stay calm." said Twilight, but to no avail. Rainbow Dash became hysteric. "MY WINGS ARE BROKEN!" she screamed on the verge of panic attack. This put everypony more on edge if it were possible.

"Heheheheee." chuckled Eggman. He had his remote and the Ursa Major at the ready. "And now…" but then he heard a strange sound. A sound like rushing wind. All the ponies heard it too. Everyone looked to the source. It got louder. Suddenly, a huge explosion of blue light and a deafening bang erupted from the clearing, and a blue blur came out of it. It was Sonic.

All the ponies were in complete amazement, especially the six friends. "Th… that's…" Rainbow Dash stammered. "No. But… it's similar." gasped Twilight. Indeed it looked similar to the Sonic Rainboom, but it was solid blue instead. None of them could beleave it.

Sonic approached a tall, thin tree. He ran straight up it and, using as a ramp, jumped into the air toward the giant Ursa. It growled and swiped at him. He missed its attacks by twisting in the air. He reached the second prong and kicked it off with all his might. The collar came off and the Ursa roared, and swiped around. One of its paws came toward Eggman. "No no no no no no no …!" he pleaded, but was hit and smacked to the ground nearby.

Sonic landed and the Ursa finally calmed down. The great beast looked down to him and he up to it. It gave a low rumble as if it were thanking him and then turned to stardust and left back to the Everfree mountains.

The shock of what happened lasted for a few seconds, then all of the ponies went crazy. They cheered so loadly it almost hurt. The crowd rushed to Sonic and lifted him up and praised him for the hero he was.

"He defeated the Ursa Major! Sonic defeated the Ursa Major!" Fluttershy cheered, which was impressive because she could be heard over all the others. "That's my Sonic." Amy said smugly. Rainbow Dash came up to Sonic. "That… was… SO AUESOME!! Oh man, if only Trixie was here to have seen that!" she squealed. Sonic asked to be put down. Everypony got quiet. "Thanks you guys, but it's not over yet." He ran off to see where Eggman crashed.
